75: Understand and overcome the fear you feel as you go through divorce and other life challenges
So many things make us feel fear. And especially during big life challenges like divorce, new jobs, big moves etc. We feel fear of the unknown, fear of not being good enough, fear of not having enough, fear of judgment, fear of rejection, fear of being seen, fear of failure, fear of imperfection, fear of abandonment, fear of quitting, fear of death, fear of change, fear of vulnerability, fear of being alone, fear of missing out.
As a Spiritual and Intuitive Guide and life coach, I’ve worked with many different clients who have a wide range of fears that influence how they experience life. In my own journey fear of judgement and fear of abandonment have been the major fears that impact me and how I show up.
Fear is an emotional state of mind that triggers a deep seeded belief that has been programmed around how you view yourself and life as a whole. When someone has a fear it’s not as easy as changing your mind about the way you view the situation, because subconsciously you are carrying a belief that says your fear is 100% based in fact. Your body has been programmed to believe something that may in fact not be true.
What happens if we don’t do the work to overcome fear?
- It turns to anger - anger feels more powerful and is less vulnerable
- Anger causes poor judgement, bad choices and can cause more harm to an already volatile situation.
How do we overcome fear?
- Get used to doing things that scare you - in other words, practice being courageous
- Let go of control - when try to control outcomes, situations to alleviate fears, but if we don’t succeed it only feeds our fears and trying to control something that is not in our hands is a losing battle. It’s like I have said before - you can’t control what someone else chooses to do - so let it go.
